Vintage description

Next to the big influences the winemaker and the vineyards have on a wine, the style gets heavily influenced by the weather of a year. After the great vintage of 1959 Josef Mantler sen. (1910-1987) decided to not add sugar to the wines anymore. In retroperspective the wines were the acidity was not tampered with were also more interesting so in the 1980s Sepp Mantler (*1952) decided to stop adding or reducing acidity. Since than the wines are “vintage pure” and show a lot of annual character.
